Product Description

Organic Activated Brazils

Totally Nuts aims to supply all Australians with all organic nuts.
However, Brazil nuts are one of the few that are not commercially grown in Australia (conventional or organic), so we have to source imported ones. Our nuts come from Bolivia where they are harvested from the Amazon basin, where they originate from.

They are certified organic by IMO - the Swiss certification group specialising in organic development and certification in developing countries. Brazil's are the world's best source of the essential element Selenium.

The Activation Process

Although even raw nuts are one of Nature´s finest high protein vegetarian and vegan foods, in order to be truly functional and a superfood, they need some gentle treatment to make them digestible.

Nuts are the seeds of plants and they contain a cocktail of natural chemicals, put there by the parent plant to prevent them from rotting on the forest floor or being eaten. These natural chemicals make the nuts indigestible to our systems, and therefore effectively toxic. The main ones which affect us as consumers are phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors.
