The Incan Goldenberry (Physalis peruviana) is native to South America but more commonly known as the Cape Gooseberry.

Fresh berries are bright yellow and very sweet when ripe and so beautiful in their lantern-like papery husks, that they're used in decorative gourmet dessert garnishes.

The health enhancing benefits have been recognized through the ages - global explorers carried Goldenberry seeds on their travels to ensure a rapid growing, nutrient rich fresh fruit source upon finding land (eg. ‘poha' in Hawaiian).
